![]() ![]() There appears to be a2 partitions, 1, claiming to be blank, by Fdisk, 41mb in length, followed by the 2nd partition, which holds the data files. I am using a Linux machine to do the copying, and I'm finding a odd anomaly. Our experience with Crutchfield was, as always, painless.I'm prepping to do the mod myself. We may have encountered a bad apple from the bunch because the new unit worked well and the sound quality was excellent. This was a big hassle, as the configuration was the last one on the list and ended up not working because of the faulty unit. We had to go through and try all nine configurations, while trying not to melt the iPod. Initially the unit came as a generic Asian interface and the website that was supposed to provide us with the setup info wasn't an actual site. Our other concern was the DIP switches we mentioned in caption 12. This problem put a sour taste in our mouth but the new unit did perform flawlessly. We requested a replacement unit, and the next day, our Tacoma was playing music from our iPod with a new Peripheral interface. ![]() A call into Peripheral Audio's tech department saw us wait 14 minutes before talking to a real person and even then, they said they had never heard of that problem. ![]() Luckily we unplugged it before the 30G iPod was wiped of its music and movies. One quick touch of the iPod and we instantly realized the cable was sending too much voltage to the iPod. ![]() Out of the box and into the truck, we plugged the iPod into the cable and after a few seconds, we smelled something burning. However, there was one snag when it came to the Peripheral unit. This kit was simple to install and worked very well once plugged in. ![]()
